Services We Provide
- Animal Cruelty Investigations - HSAC Humane Officer Angela Cotrell investigates allegations of animal cruelty, neglect and mistreatment. If you suspect that animal abuse has occurred or is currently taking place please gather as much pertinent (type of abuse, names, addresses, etc.) information as possible and then call Officer Cotrell at 419-991-1775, ext.11. Callers are not required to disclose their identity although such information is very useful should questions arise. HSAC encourages all incidents of suspected abuse to be reported. We would rather investigate a claim that turned out to be unfounded than miss an opportunity to help an animal in need.
- Injured Animal Rescue - Now in its fourth year of operation, the HSAC Injured Animal Rescue unit continues to answer the call to save homeless injured animals. If you see an animal that has been injured please, if possible, try to make sure that the animal is out of harm’s way and then contact HSAC during normal business hours or the Allen County Sheriff’s Department (419-227-3535) after hours. If after hours, the sheriff’s department will forward the information on to a member of the IAR Team and the unit will be dispatched immediately.
- Lost and Found Animal Tracking - All lost dogs should be reported to the Allen County Dog Warden (419-223-8528) immediately. In addition to the efforts of the dog warden’s office, HSAC also maintains a detailed log of all reported lost and found companion animals.
- Behavior Training Hotline - Behavioral problems are one of the leading causes of companion animals being relinquished to shelters. With this in mind, HSAC established the hotline to offer advice on common canine and feline behavioral problems.
- Companion Animal Population Control - Each year more than five million dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters across the nation. As a responsible animal welfare organization, HSAC does its part to reduce that number by surgically sterilizing all of the animals it has available for adoption. We also offer a low cost spay/neuter surgery to caretakers of stray or feral cat colonies.
- Safe Haven Boarding - Continuing with its commitment to the community and animals-in-need, HSAC will provide a safe haven for you dog or cat whose life is endangered due to a family crisis. Certain guidelines and qualifications apply.
